  • Quay Cares

Climate change is the most critical Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) issue for any transport company, and Quay Cars is committed to take responsibility for all emissions created through transporting our passengers.

Each time we heat our homes, take a flight or drive a car, Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is added into the atmosphere. CO2 is a greenhouse gas that is released when fossil fuels such as oil, gas and coal are burnt.

The prime cause of global warming is the build up of CO2 in the atmosphere. Every year London alone generates around 50 million tonnes of CO2 of which almost 20% comes directly from transport.

When purchasing our vehicles we consider the environmental impact of each vehicle, but without compromising on luxury for you our customer.

    Premium

When choosing the vehicle for this category, after considering the other possible marques Quay Cars decided not to compromise on quality and the only acceptable vehicle was the S Class Mercedes Limousine.

The S320 CDi complies with the EU4 emission standards. The standard particle filter ensures further significant reductions in particle emissions.

    Executive

In this category Quay Cars believe they have chosen the best available all round vehicle in the BMW 520d SE.

Vehicle CO2 Emissions [g/km] Particulates Euro Standard CO Emissions [g/km]
    BMW 520d 158 0 IV 0.123
    Mercedes E220 167 0.021 IV 0.157
    Lexus Hybrid 186 N/A IV 0.100
    Audi A6 160 0.020 IV 0.150

    Economy

In this category there were little benefits from any vehicle and Quay Cars who are strong believers in car sharing have chosen the Ford Galaxy providing the ability to transfer up to six passengers at a time, reducing costs to you the customer and to the environment. Quay Cars will not charge an additional premium for the number of passengers.

At Quay Cars we have procedures to reduce our CO2 emissions to the minimum possible, and to offset the remaining unavoidable CO2 emissions, Quay Cars is the first chauffeur company working with Climate Care.

These reductions are made through a range of projects in renewable energy and energy efficiency, which not only fight climate change but bring benefits to communities round the world, wherever funding goes farthest and has the greatest impact.

    CO2:

When petrol or diesel is burnt for energy the main by-products are water vapour and carbon dioxide (CO2). Carbon Dioxide is the most important of the greenhouse gases which are contributing to Climate Change. In 6000 miles a car will produce roughly its own weight in CO2. Unless action is taken to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, such as carbon dioxide, the whole pattern of the world’s weather could change.

    Emissions Particles (g/km):

Particulate emissions (g/km). Fine particles (especially those smaller than 10 microns) enter the lungs and are associated with a range of respiratory and cardiovascular disorders and asthma.

    Euro Standard:

In 1992 exhaust emission limits, (now often referred to as Euro I standards) were introduced for new cars, which resulted in the fitting of advanced emission control techniques, e.g. catalysts. More stringent emission limits came into effect in 1997 and 1998, depending on vehicle type, and these were known as Euro II. Euro III requirements were introduced with effect from 1st January 2000 and, for the majority of vehicles, came into full effect on 1st January 2001. A further tightening of the emissions limits, Euro IV, begins on the 1st of January 2005 and will be in force by 1st January 2007. Some manufacturers have chosen to approve cars to Euro IV limits ahead of time and these are shown on this site.

    Carbon Monoxide (CO) emissions (g/km):

CO emissions (g/km). Carbon monoxide reduces the bloods oxygen carrying capacity which can reduce availability of oxygen to key organs.
